Seven Sights in Paris - Promenade Plantée

The Promenade Plantée is certainly not on page one of your guidebook but on sunny days a special little tip. This closed railway line (a little like New York’s rather new High Line) is now a stretch of park which makes for a surprising combination of walk in the garden and delightful views of the surrounding streets (you are more or less at the height of the 3rd floor of the surrounding buildings).

You can relax on one of the many benches or extend your walk for a few kilometers. Don’t miss a little window shopping at the art and crafts shops and galleries underneath the first stretch of the promenade. The best place to start your walk is just behind the Opéra Bastille.

How to get there from Pontoise: take the train from Pontoise to Gare St Lazare, metro 3 to République and from there metro 5 to Bastille.
